CNPetro Petrolatum Tape is a specialized product designed for pipeline coating and can be used in various applications. It is particularly effective in complex areas of pipelines such as T-pieces where petroleum filling materials are used. The tape is made from chemical fiber-based materials coated with modified petroleum on both sides, making it an effective anti-corrosive binding agent.
One of the key features of CNPetro Petrolatum Tape is its high adhesive and elastic properties, making it easy to apply and ensuring it stays in place. This tape also features a high softening point, allowing it to withstand extreme temperatures.
In order to provide the best protection possible, our Petroleum Tape is wrapped with an inner wrapping tape and an additional layer of outer wrapping tape for mechanical protection. This multi-layered approach provides thorough protection against environmental damage, ensuring the pipeline remains safe and secure.
Our product meets the NACE RP0375-2006 standard and offers numerous benefits. It can be applied to marginally prepared surfaces (SSPC SP 2-3) and conforms to irregular shapes and profiles. It is also capable of being applied to cold, wet surfaces, making it a versatile choice for various project requirements.
Our product is durable and effective, being unaffected by water, acid, salts, or soil organics. It is specifically designed for the encapsulation of lead paint and contains no solvents, making it an environmentally friendly option.
It is incredibly easy to apply our product in temperatures ranging from arctic to tropical, ensuring its applicability across different locations with varying climates. Once applied, our product is ready for immediate service.
In addition to meeting the AS 4822-2008, ISO 21809-3:2008, and AWWA C217 Standard, our product has over an 80-year history of successful applications, further establishing its reliability and effectiveness.

If you want to ensure that your surfaces are well-prepared for protection, you need to follow certain guidelines. First, you should remove all loose scale, rust, or other foreign matter using either SSPC SP2 "Hand Tool Cleaning" or SP3 "Power Tool Cleaning". Alternatively, you can use a high-pressure water wash with pressures between 3,000 and 7,000 psi (20.68 - 48.26 MPa).
Once the surface is clean, you need to apply a thin film of petroleum paste. Next, spirally wrap the tape with a 55% overlap. While wrapping, make sure to press out any air pockets and smooth all lap seams. This will ensure that the surface is well-protected.
If you have irregular surfaces such as valves or flanges, you may need to use Petroleum Filler Mastic or Profiling Mastic. These products will help to fill in any gaps or irregularities in the surface. Finally, you should apply a PVC tape as an outerwrap for mechanical protection.
