If you're looking for a product to use for pipeline coating, look no further than CNPetro Petrolatum Tape. This tape is versatile in that it can be used for house connections and fittings, but is particularly effective for complicated parts like T-Pieces used in conjunction with petroleum filling material.
The tape itself is made using a chemical fibre base (such as non-woven) coated with modified petroleum on both sides. This creates an anti-corrosive binding that is highly adhesive and elastic. Additionally, the tape has a high softening point, meaning it can withstand extreme temperatures without deteriorating.
The CNPetro Petrolatum Tape is designed with two layers. The first is an inner wrapping tape that provides an additional layer of protection. The second layer is an outer wrapping tape that acts as mechanical protection. Together, these layers ensure that your pipes and fittings are well-protected from the elements and other potential hazards.
This product meets the standards set forth in NACE RP0375-2006. It has been specifically designed to be used on surfaces that are marginally prepared (SSPC SP 2-3). With this product, the shape and profile of the surface are not a concern, as it is able to conform to irregular shapes.

The average thickness of the material, as tested by ASTM D1000, is 1.15mm.
The material has an average weight of 1.50kg/m 2 , as measured by standard testing methods.
The minimum breaking strength of the material, tested using ASTM D1000, is 200 N/50mm.
Water vapor transmission, as determined by the ASTM E96 - 66 Procedure A, has an average of 0.006 perms. Elongation at break averages at 10%.
When tested using the 55% overlap method, the material has a minimum breakdown voltage of 16 kV.

To properly prepare surfaces for coating, it is important to first remove any loose scale, rust or foreign matter. This can be achieved through SSCP SP2 "Hand Tool Cleaning" or SP3 "Power Tool Cleaning". Additionally, a high-pressure water wash with a pressure of 3,000 - 7,000 psi (20.68 - 48.26 MPa) may also be an option.
After the surface has been properly cleaned, a thin film of petroleum paste should be applied. Then, using a spirally wrapping technique with a 55% overlap, tape should be wrapped around the surface. It is important to press out any air pockets and ensure that all lap seams are smooth during application.
However, irregular surfaces such as valves and flanges may require the use of Petroleum Filler Mastic or Profiling Mastic in addition to the petroleum paste.
